2020 Kerala Day in Taiwan
Pleased invited by Taiwan Malayali Association, I had my debut Malayalam singing performance! Today is also my first time participating in Taiwan Malayali’s event, which is truly a day to be remembered.
Actually, when Susan invited me for the performance, I already made up my mind to attend anyway, but making up my mind to perform was a later thing, the greatest appealing factor is the cast of the day!
I have noticed that among so many talented performers in Indian cultural programs these years, Malayali girls definitely played a key role in the cast of each event. They nailed at many dance styles, from classical, semi-classical, folk, to Bollywood, kuthu style, etc. I’ve been mesmerized by their amazing choreography for many times, and I knew they will surely have lots more to present on their own stage, which is definitely the highlight of this event for me! It’s really lucky for the guests today to be able to enjoy such various styles of dance performances in a day, including the regional special dance Thirvathirakali, authentic classical dance Bharatanatyam, energetic Bollywood fusion, and so on.
Other than this, this small and heartwarming event also engaged participants more than regular big functions: Kids joined by dance and drawing competition, the audience was also invited to share their talents as well as the ramp walk session (gladly I was also invited too, hahaha). The main course of Lunch is the reputed biryani provided by Desi Spices, with the dessert payasam. After whole day programs, we got homemade chai and samosa to mark the end of this special day.
One more thing I have to praise about this event is visual! Kudos to the visual designer for all the posters and banners of this event! The concise design by applying the main single color for each poster successfully made the theme (performer) stand out, and each poster also impressed the audience like some album cover. The unified design follows the consistent principle, which is really well done, and I was totally amazed by my own poster upon seeing that too; I felt like a barbie doll in it hahahaha~Didn’t imagine I could be in such a lovely style before!
I’m so happy to be part of this lovely gathering! Since I had missed Malayali events in the past few years due to different reasons every and every time, finally this day came true and I really had a great time getting along with old friends, meeting new friends, and appreciating the beauty of Malayali culture. Looking forward to meeting you amazing people soon!
