Priya’s Dosa Fiesta
The first time I saw Priya was on stage, actually always on stage — Famous for the group dance performance with other members from “Taragan” on each and every Indian cultural event in town, she has genuine diva aura while dancing that you will see what I’m saying when you watch with your own eyes. Besides, she’s also very talented and active in event coordination and compering — aside from her official identification — a researcher in the top academic institute of Taiwan.
Basically I’ve been Priya’s fan for a good while but not until these 1–2 years did I really know her in person as well as her lovely amma — Feel just like making friends with some public figure though 😛 From Priya’s mom I can clearly see the inheritance of the wonderful characters- capable, independent as well as the smile! Although I cannot really have conversation with amma but I always can feel mother’s love beyond language barrier — In the current NCTU Pongal I was struggling with my saree in the washroom, Priya’s amma saw me and helped me to re-do the draping with her experienced technique and her own pins, “Priya’s friend, my child!” smilingly said her, I was totally moved!!!
Upon receiving the invitation from Priya to have dinner with them, I was so surprised, meanwhile curious to know the super star’s cooking style!
So here comes the amazing dosa feast last night!!!
As the most representative south Indian food, Dosa is a very thin, crisp pancake made of finely ground lentils, to put more straight forward, it’s kind of crispy, lightweight, savory crepe. Dosa is often served with chutney, spiced lentil-vegetable stew (sambar). Being available in every household and diner in Tamil Nadu, Dosa is not just the most popular breakfast option, it’s also the favorable snack in the afternoon with chai or coffee.
There’s a great variety of dosa i’ve read from recipes online, but not until tonight did I taste such many flavors at ONE TIME! Literally a Dosa fiesta! Here’s the full list of what I had:
- plain dosa
- podi dosa
- onion dosa
- egg dosa
- corn dosa
- channa msala dosa
- veg masal dosa
- chicken curry dosa
- cheese dosa
- chocolate nutella dosa
- coconut Jaggery dosa
