Velmurugan 家的泰米爾餐桌(下)

Dosa is a type of pancake from the Indian subcontinent, made from a fermented batter. Its main ingredients are rice and urad daal (black gram). Dosa is a typical part of the South Indian diet and a popular option for breakfast, In Velmurugan family, Ms. Velmurugan prepares the fermented dosa batter in a corner at home which is ready to use anytime, freshly making it for family every morning. 3–5 pieces of dosa along with chutney or sambar and a cup of hot tea is all needed to start an energetic day!

I’ve eaten dosa for a couple of times, but it’s my first time to see live demo of making dosa in Velemurugan family’s’ home :D

With the special pan brought from India, Ms. Verlmurugan scooped the dosa batter she has already made and well fermented, poured on the pan — with medium fire, shortly one piece is ready to serve!

The fresh made one is so delicious that I was so grateful for god’s creation of this food~ (well, by Tamil people’s actually!)

In fact, dosa is not just the staple food of the entire South Indian belt as well as South Indians living all over the world, it’s also widely appreciated by people who want to stay fit and eat tasty food at the same time.

Dosa是印度一種以大米麵糊和黑扁豆為材料發酵而成的煎餅也是泰米爾納度邦代表美食(新加坡小印度也很常見)。做法首先將一勺Dosa麵糊倒在平鍋上,平均鋪成一個圓形的薄餅,當餅皮煎成咖啡色時,表示料理完成,要用一種我吃過的食物比喻,就是法國crepe,整體薄軟的麵皮以及局部/邊緣略酥脆的質地。搭配Dosa的醬料或餡料也滿多種,其中我們最人氣的口味就是Masala Dosa,由馬鈴薯、洋蔥跟各種香料料理而成。最經典搭配Dosa的醬料是南印酸辣醬(Sambar)與調味醬(Chutney) 。
